As we gear up for busy season this year, I wanted to prepare a list of file prep requirements for designers, marketing/design agencies and customers who like to provide print-ready artwork to us. We are often asked how we would like our files prepared since every print shop tends to like their artwork prepared slightly different. Below is a list of requirements & recommendations for submitting artwork to MotoGFX…
MotoGFX File Prep Requirements
-Vectorized eps, ai or pdf file whenever possible (if raster, we recommend 100-300dpi).
-One file per piece of artwork. For all paper products, please separate front/back into two files.
-Use CMYK Colorspace. RGB can produce unpredictable shifts in color.
-If exact color match is important, you must specify Pantone (coated) colors.
-Design at actual size.
-Convert ALL fonts to outlines.
-Flatten ALL transparencies.
-Embed all images. Files using linked images will not be accepted.
-Remove all overprints. These can produce unpredictable results.
-For cut lines on stickers and other products, use path(s) with 1px magenta stroke (no fill).
-Bleed stickers at least .075” past magenta cut line. MOST paper products bleed .125”-.25” past all edges.
-No bleed needed on banners and some other products. Please ask if unsure.
-Remove all Printers Marks, Registration Marks and Crop Marks unless otherwise requested.
-Remove all Guides.
-Some templates available for certain products. Please ask if needed!

If you’re a fan of high octane, high horsepower, high speed exotics, grab a friend and a spectator ticket to Shift-S3ctor’s Oregon Airstrip Attack taking place at McMinnville Municipal Airport on August 22nd & 23rd, 2015!
MotoGFX is proud to announce that we are the OFFICIAL PRINT SPONSOR for this event, as it takes place for the first time here in Oregon. We’ve been following the Shift-S3ctor series of airstrip events throughout the last couple years as many of our performance and vehicle related customers have Nissan GT-Rs, Lamborhinis, and other high horsepower cars that compete at every single race. As an effort to further support the customers that support us, we figured this was the perfect way to thank everyone for their business, loyalty, and more importantly, mingle and have a great day out of the office together!
We want to personally thank the racing teams of Extreme Turbo Systems, English Racing, Diamonds By Wire, Cobb Tuning Surgeline, Radium Engineering, Horizontal Motorsports, and anyone else we may have forgotten. Extreme Turbo Systems (ETS) is a long time customer of ours, and currently owner of the World’s Quickest 1/8 mile GT-R with over 2000 Wheel Horsepower and a 1/8 mile time of a staggeringly low 4.9 seconds! At this event, ETS will be attempting to take back the title of the World’s Quickest GT-R. They choose MotoGFX every time for vehicle graphics because they know we deliver the highest performing graphics – on time – and correct…every time!
We’re running a giveaway for a pair of weekend spectator tickets on our instagram @motogfx. Follow us, like the contest photo, and tag the friend that you’d take with you if you were chosen! You can enter once every time we post the contest image! We’ll choose a winner at random on August 15th, 2015!
At the event, keep an eye open for the MOTOGFX canopies / pit setup and come say hello! We’ll be giving out stickers, t-shirts and drinks all weekend long! Hope to see you all there!

Throughout my ten years in the vinyl industry, never once did I think that MotoGFX would reach the kind of heights that we have. I have been so fortunate to surround myself, and this company, with a close network of extremely professional individuals who put just as much care into their work as I do mine, which is why you can ALWAYS expect the very best service and product in Oregon when you buy from us. Guaranteed!
If you are like most customers, you’ve been searching for a print shop that you can trust. In doing so, you’ve also been trying to figured out what make one sign shop better than the next. This post is LONG overdue, but I can’t deny for a second that I’m still proud of this accomplishment…and it should give you an idea of why MotoGFX should be your top choice among sign shops in Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, Lake Oswego, Tualatin and all other surrounding areas…
In October of 2011, MotoGFX entered the show-stopping “Hot Pink Taco” food truck that we had the honor of printing and installing graphics on, into a NATIONAL competition held by Roland DGA. Roland DGA is the World’s leading wide format printer manufacturer and almost every product we produce at MotoGFX comes off one of our several Roland machines. In this competition, sign shops, graphic designers, prototype producers and national graphics chains were given the opportunity to show off one finished product they had produced on a Roland Machine to be voted on by the public. After a month of voting, 2,352 public votes put MotoGFX on top and we had won the title of October’s “Roland DGA Creative Awards People’s Choice Winner.”
This combination of printed Gloss Hot Pink and Gloss Black graphics came together as a partial wrap on the freshly painted matte black truck to create a truly head-turning package! This vision and art created by Kristina Plummer, and printed them wrapped by Matthew Robert Fishler of MotoGFX, came together beautifully! Everywhere it went, people had to stop and take pictures. We could not have been any happier with the outcome of our prints AND installation, and our reputation was able to speak for itself — we’re a NATIONAL COMPETITION WINNING SIGN SHOP according to the vote of the people! This was not an easy task, but we certainly hope it makes your decision easier, if you’re stuck trying to decide who to trust with your hard earned money with.

Wow, what a fun experience this was! In between printing a couple of big jobs last week, our new friend Justin at JBondMedia.com came through and filmed a fun little spot ad for us! We filmed for two days and Justin already had a vision that I just followed along with. Out of the minute and a half of actual footage that made it into the final video, I think Justin and I ended up laughing for hours…mostly him just laughing at me.
I’m so incredibly excited to share this you – it gives a little bit of personality and insight into what we do here and how everything operates. When you buy from MotoGFX, we give you the best one-on-one customer service possible, and I do my personal best to make the process fun.
A HUGE thank you goes out to Justin Bond! This guy is such a class act with a great personality, a lot of positive energy, and raw talent. Please show him some love by visiting his website: JBondMedia.com, Instagram: @jbondmedia, Twitter: @jbondmedia and his Facebook: J. Bond Media.
Enjoy!

Little Big Burger here in Portland, Oregon has been a huge customer of ours since day one. We’ve had the honor of working very close with the owners there for a couple of years now and do everything from their window and wall vinyl graphics to their screen printed work shirts, printed napkin holder inserts, catsup bottle labels and everything else in between. At this point, MotoGFX has had a hand in all seven locations with this new store opening on the corner of SE Hawthorne and 20th before year’s end. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to check out one of these tasty little burger joints, you will understand what the hype is all about — and you’ll quickly learn the only thing “little” in the establishment is the burgers!
The new Hawthorne location features this HUGE 12 foot by 8 foot wall decal as a focal point inside the dining area. The challenge with these huge graphics is not only getting them straight, but because they’re laid down in panels, the panels have to line up perfectly to connect parts of the design that span across multiple panels — something we take great pride in! Below are some photos during the process – the first photo shows us sticking the bottom panel to the wall, the second photo shows pressing the vinyl into the texture with heat and the third photo shows the final product perfectly straight with everything aligned flawlessly. Enjoy! -Matthew Fishler
